BANANA PACOVAN KEN

One of the most popular fruits of Brazil, banana is a source of potassium, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamin A, C, B6, iron and magnesium. It can be consumed raw, in chips or in the most varied recipes.

THE FARM

Founded by Italian entrepreneurs in 1977, the farm is located in the Cocoa Coast in the southern Bahia region. The area spans over 740 hectares, of which 120 are cultivated, and 620 are considered part of the Native Atlantic Forest.

EMATA is a reference in the region for its native fauna and flora. Its eight pristine springs contribute to the supply of water to the population of Itacaré, the main town in the region, with over 30,000 inhabitants. Itacaré, which is full of beautiful touristic beaches, is only 11km from the farm.

EMATA is 245km from Salvador and 70km away from the Jorge Amado airport of Ilhéus. Driving on Estrada Parque Ilhéus, a local scenic road, takes only one hour by car to reach the airport. The road is considered one of the
most beautiful in Brazil and was the first in the country to have full environmental control since the beginning of its construction, in 1998.

EMATA fully respects the environmental law. It produces cocoa (at Cabruca and on Céu Aberto), clove, black pepper and allspice. At the moment we are investing in the cultivation of conilon coffee. The plantation is made in a
sustainable way, made for exportation. It has acquired the Geographical Indication and is ready to get the special UTZ mark.

Coffee Production

The coffee conilon finds in Emata the ideal altitude for its cultivation, between 50 and 200 meters above sea level. It has 2.2% caffeine, double the arabica, being valued for the composition of blends and instant coffees.
